LONDONART WALLPAPER MARCEL WANDERS MONDRIAN DOHA
Design Marcel Wanders
Inspired by the famous collection of oriental short stories “the thousand and one nights”, this motif was used for the interiors of the Mondrian Doha, a hotel in Qatar designed by Marcel Wanders. The design is based on a mix of elements from the local handicraft of miniature paintings, from ornate Arabic script, from the famous souks. All these elements then merge with the hallmarks of Marcel Wanders, including references to Amsterdam and its history.
